- the fire engine used to be kept behind the Borough Bailiff, where the bell they used to summon the brigade can still be seen. Later the Town Hall bell was used, and the engine kept in the drill hall, Chapel Street.
Unknown if there was ever a fire station building, or pump was just kept in the open
